I was just a little boy
And at night I dreamed of stars falling across the endless sky
I could see the thousands of flickering lights and imagine the hand that set them upon the black canvas that is our universe

To me, it felt like a warm place
It was only later that I found out it's always cold in space

When I think back to summers long ago
I always see birds flying and sunbeams raining from the trees
What one tends to forget are the showers
And the days that it was too hot to move
And the day that grandmother died

And the fact that those things are just as much a part of summer
As the sunlight, or the month of July
